The global audiovisual market generates annual revenue of more than US $200 billion and is growing at a rate of 14% per annum. The increasing convergence of the entertainment computing and telecommunications businesses is creating one of the world's most dynamic industrial sectors. This communication revolution is generating a huge demand for new forms of filmed entertainment. If Kenya is to seize the opportunities offered by this expanding market, it must find the means to sell its wealth of services competitively to local and the international business community. Employment is a key area that would benefit from an increase in film business activity. Unemployment in the audiovisual workforce is often as high as 50% and many of Kenya's facilities are underutilized. In this highly labor-intensive industry, increased production will lead to immediate employment opportunities, both in the film sector and in the many local businesses serving the industry. The increased levels of employment will also create a large number of opportunities and encourage new talent to find ways for re-skilling and diversification of existing personnel. Deliberate efforts are being put in place to step up the marketing of Kenya as a film destination of choice by enhancing:-
