Scripted by Elena Bindi and directed by the famed Italian director Carlo Verdone, IO LORO E LARA (ME, THEM AND LARA) is a full length feature film that revolves around love, pain, feelings of betrayal and eventual reconciliation The Kenyan shoot of the movie will be co-ordinated by Blue Sky Films, a renowned Kenyan Filming Agency (TOMB RAIDER II, LE PATRIACHIN, THE CONSTANT GARDENER, SPANISH SURVIVOR...). Filming runs from 7th to 11th July 2009 in such picturisque and breathtaking locations as Samburu Game Reserve, Shaba Game Reserve, Archers Post and Wamba. Carlo, a priest in a crisis, leaves Africa for Italy to tell his family he intends to abandon priesthood. It’s not the return of the prodigal son as he had hoped. His colourful, eccentric family is in shambles, due to a bizarre inheritance matter, and, being the holy one in the family, he will have to solve it. We’ll meet the beautiful, mysterious, young Lara, who will come as a surprise to all the family members, Carlo’s father, a delightful old man in love with his Slav minder forty years his junior, Carlo’s brother, a very agitated financial counsellor, Carlo’s sister, a hysterical shrink, and her freaky teen-age daughter. Not forgetting three black prostitutes who Carlo will redeem, two social workers, one of whom will try and lead Carlo away from his celibacy vows… All of this in a whirlwind of laughter, misunderstandings, search for solutions, tenderness, fights and love. And Carlo’s crisis? No one wants to hear or do anything about it, so he’ll have to find his own solution and he decides to go back to his mission in Africa.
